Our Care Specialty

Your pediatrician or general doctor should do regular eye screenings of your child, including checking red reflexes, as an infant and toddler. As part of a regular physical examination, your child should have testing of visual acuity or an age-appropriate vision screening at age three and at yearly physical examinations after that.

Children Check Up

Dr Gonzalez specializes in pediatric opthamology / strabismus care, offering medical and optical treatment for children's eye problems of all kinds

Strabismus

Causes of strabismus can include nerve injury or dysfunction of the muscles controlling the eye.
The main symptom is eyes that don't look in exactly the same direction at the same time.

Cataracts

The main symptom is blurry vision. Having cataracts can be like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Early symptoms include floaters, blurriness, dark areas of vision, and difficulty perceiving colors. Blindness can occur.

Glaucoma

The most common type of glaucoma (open-angle glaucoma) often has no symptoms other than slow vision loss. Angle-closure glaucoma, although rare, is a medical emergency and its symptoms include eye pain with nausea and sudden visual disturbance.

Refractive Error

Refractive error means that the shape of your eye does not bend light correctly, resulting in a blurred image. The main types of refractive errors are myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), presbyopia (loss of near vision with age), and astigmatism

Amblyopia

Symptoms include a wandering eye, eyes that may not appear to work together, or poor depth perception. Both eyes may be affected.
